Michael was a larger than life character, and made an impact on everyone he met. A beloved husband to Patricia, father to Gemma and Mark, father-in-law to Mike and Laura and grandfather to Oscar, Elsie and Isaac.
He had a sense of humour right to the end, and always put others first.
A lifelong Stockport County supporter, he was well loved around Edgeley - his pubs of choice being the Railway Club and Our Lady’s Social.
The last 10 months of his life were a struggle, having been diagnosed with Lymphoma and Neuropathy. Ultimately it was his lungs which failed him - just as he got the all clear from the cancer. He fought relentlessly for his life as he didn't want to leave his family behind. But his bravery was incredibly inspiring and will leave a big impression on us for the rest of our lives.
Instead of flowers, we are asking for donations to The Christie Charity. They gave Michael the BEST care all the way through, but in particular in the Critical Care Unit at the end - they brought comfort to both Michael and the family as we were welcomed to stay in relative accommodation on site. Any donations will go towards them keeping up their impeccable work and other families receiving this care.
Thank you so much for any donations and for taking the time to read about our love for Michael. We hope to see so many of you at his funeral as detailed below.
In the words of Michael, he’ll “see you later on in the film” ❤️
